I’m giving a shout like everyone else, Spring 2012 is shaping up to be one of the best seasons for anime! I’m stuck with the biggest watchlist since I started watching anime weekly, and it seems more diverse than ever. So then comes crossing my fingers that we don’t get disappointed halfway, but I’m also pretty optimistic now. Having big list of shows gave me troubles picking up the moments I really wanted to share, and I might have messed up a little and cheated by choosing the stuff that doesn’t require me to think about what to write haha! Oh and I kinda felt like experimenting to tempt more people to skim through these posts, so I added a poll this week just because. :p

As silly as this sounds, let’s dokidoki now:

5. Fate/zero 14:

“Matte, Maiya!…”

I’m surprised at how much I missed that grim tone of Kiritsugu, I can keep listening to the way he says “Maiya!..” for hours without getting bored haha!

4. Mirai Nikki 25:

SUDDENLY BERSERK ACTION *GASP*

I dunno how I feel about the way the plot is progressing right now, and I find myself disliking Murmur since she became relevant to it, but all that aside I still immensely enjoyed the fight scene with Ninth! Seeing such fluidity in each movement reminded me of the rare occasions in good old Naruto anime where a special team was called to animate the important battles in a ridiculous “kneading” style, or that’s how I like to imagine how it was haha.. *gotta thank Asread for wasting all their budget on that*

3.  Kuroko no Basuke 1:

“I will be your shadow.”

Because the stronger the light, the darker its shadow. It’s simple, get it? YEP THAT SHOUNEN LOGIC THAT I LOVE. Just keep making sense of stuff that doesn’t make sense and I’ll keep getting hyped for you Kuroko!

2. Sakamichi no Apollon 1:

Feel them drums!!!

Was it the jazz itself? Or was it that dynamic percussion animation that had me drop my jaw in awe? Add to that Sentarou being such a fascinating individual so him on drums brought further flavor of charm, and then I could not resist.

1.  Lupin III: Mine Fujiko to iu Onna 2:

Love Noir

I was torn between the moment in the coffin and the moment with the empty gun. I ended up choosing the scene where Jigen got confused when all the emotions he kept suppressing abruptly slipped through to the surface. I could see everything in the sudden change in his expressions, and my god that was fantastic! Plus the great BGM that was playing, and *ahem* Jigen’s shockingly handsome smile. The ice-breaking moment of suicidal romance couldn’t fit in any better place other than a coffin for the dead, and the way it rolled was just damn perfect!

So this turned out to be quite an emotional week, and I’m completely fine with that:

5. Inu X Boku SS 10:

A Loyal Dog?

My god, Miketsukami confirmed for hottest bishie, and it’s not just looks here. Gotta bring looks first though, casual clothes and glasses? Totally felt for Ririchiyo as her view trembled upon examining him haha.. On top of that, he started acting wicked to further mix her emotions, just so that he gets the chance to sweet-talk her as she shifts to full angry tsuntsun mode. Him says: “would I bite the hand that feeds me?” and then hnnnng frank dokidoki alright!

4. Chihayafuru 23:

MANLY TEARS KUYASHII!!

Yet *awwwwwwwww~* Harada-sensei is all ready to take them for you. Seriously, the dude is amazing don’t you agree? Ah, might as well admit to myself that Harada-sensei was my secret favorite character all along. :’3

3. Mirai Nikki 21:

“We’re the same. I see now. I wanted to be saved too.”

Err I never expected I would cry watching Mirai Nikki, but I admit being vulnerable to unpredicted tears, especially when accompanied by effective BGM along with them, and that’s the exact recipe we got here. I really liked the whole showdown between Minene and Yukiteru, she was a likable character from the beginning and it would’ve been a waste if she was just shot down to death like say, eleventh *lol*, in the same episode. The way her weakness was revealed clenched my heart, but it wasn’t until the moment of her “shocking” memories of her family that I broke in tears when she did.. RIP Minene =”(

2. Nisemonogatari 10:

“You’re looking lively. Did something good happen?”

Yes, a damned plot happened! I was torn choosing between this and Kaiki’s abrupt reappearance *which had me lolololol*, but in the end I figured Araragi’s beastly rage over gigantic finger wiping out his sister’s upper body had a bigger dokidoki impact on me. And it wasn’t just that actually, I was filled with tension since the time Yotsugi kept ringing the doorbell of Araragi’s house to every other warning, threat and reveal uttered by all involved parties, bluff was it or real. I especially loved how Araragi felt weak compared to his “servant” Kiss-shot Acerola-orion Heart-under-blade Loli-vampire Oshino-Shinobu, and how she in return also felt weak compared to Yozuru. Hey I see what they did there, cooking up a dazzling antihero as the final villain, and I think it was awesome!

1. Natsume Yuujinchou Shi 11:

A Single Photo…

…is enough to make me cry my feelings out, that’s Natsume for you. I became so attached to Natsume that I can easily relate to him in every emotion he experiences, and I felt troubled since the moment he lost his precious picture of his parents. I also connected to his shyness when he tried to hide the fact that he lost the picture, and then felt relieved when Tanuma caught on that. And last when the picture was found, I became so eager to get a glimpse of his parents like they were my deceased relatives that I never met. As Natsume showed it to us, gasping of what resemblance he has to them,  my emotions swirled to surface and my eyes got soaked with tears. “When I looked at their kind smiles, and thought that I was supposed to be there smiling, too… I couldn’t stop crying.” …so yeah this show, I wanted a hug after that ;_;

Seeing which stuff I picked pretty much tells me how ridiculous this week has been haha! Both Natsume and Chihayafuru dedicated their time to build-up in the latest episodes, so there wasn’t much to feel dokidoki about in them. =( I had the chance to watch Hotarubi since it got subbed though, and it was amazing so I’m fine with the way things worked out.. well anyways, time to get to our crowning ceremony now:

5. Mirai Nikki 20:

YUNO WITH SUBMACHINE-GUN IS BOSS

Sure that wasn’t the baddest appearance of Yuno, and it was a bit too short to deliver the proper dose of Yandere-service this week. Having said that, Yuno-dere-sama was still able to impress and promote the episode from being meh to worth watching in the last minute.. Just think, who else can fire SMG at living beings LIKE A BOSS with such an innocent smile on their face? And as if that wasn’t badass enough, she also came equipped with a showoff katana haha! Seriously, Mirai Nikki needs to forget boring twists and just focus on being hilarious lol.

4. Nisemonogatari 8:

If Koyomi was sealed in a room with his sister, he’d probably XXX

Now I didn’t really like how Smutonogatari wasted a whole episode on Karen, but I gotta admit I was impressed by all the effort SHAFT put to create the most innovative ever errr, incest hentai. I was genuinely overwhelmed by how craftily that lewd atmosphere was created to turn the boring task of tooth-brushing into the most awkward foreplay material. I MEAN #$@%&! IT WAS FIVE MINUTES OF PURE WTF! And dammit Shinbo, I wanna try brushing my teeth with BGM now. Confirmed for dirtiest dokidoki ever? Depends on what’s left in store for us in the last 3 episodes of Nisemonogatari, but I doubt anything can top toothbrush-gasm zOMG.

3. Guilty Crown 19:

NAZE DA POWAH UPPU!!

Err I actually have no proper words to say other than “LOLOLOL HOW EFFING CONVENIENT LOLOLOL”. Dammit Guilty Crown, just how long can you keep up this vicious cycle of fitting dumb plots and pulling ass-twists without losing your touch? My suspension of disbelief has been long shattered, and I’ve never stopped craving more OH MA SHOE since then haha! So what do we have this week? From Mama Shoe trying to save her little dead girl Mana to revealing her relationship with evil Onii-san to stealing Another Last On Earth Void Genome to having the dilemma of offering it to Son Shoe to throwing it at him and warning him that it would kill him to Son Shoe accepting his fate to take all our pain to asdfghjklasdfghjklasdfghjkl.. and we can go on forever lol. Best of all was definitely OH MA SHOE pulling his own void though, who’d argue about how brilliant that was *and for him to point out that the reason for not doing so before was him being a shitty coward added extra facepalm.jpg value lololol*. And then his void was a hand.. A DAMN HAND! A DAMN RIGHT HAND! A GODDAMN RIGHT HAND THAT TAKES ALL OUR SINS AND WILL KILL SHOE! ALL DAT DAMNED SUBTLE FORESHADOWING FOR ANOTHER JESUS ENDING FFFYEAH!!

2. Inu X Boku SS 8:

Miketsukami confessing his social anxiety for the first time..

Ah I love those moments where you sense friends/lovers/partners/etc.etc. forming new bonds and getting closer to each others. So yeah, after weeks of watching the same static relationship between Ririchiyo and her servant Miketsukami, we’re finally moving somewhere here. I was slowly getting disappointed after every failed attempt of Ririchiyo to properly speak with Miketsukami. But when she succeeded in doing so, that really paid off. As she was persistent on demanding an equal-status interaction with him, having Miketsukami respond by saying: “But.. I don’t know how to interact with someone other than to serve them” was truly sensational.. that clicked perfectly. Now he’s definitely my favorite character in the show, so I share the same interest with Ririchiyo in wishing to understand him more.. Oh and speaking of getting close, Ririchiyo interpreting the shared social awkwardness with Miketsukami as “a little like me, and that makes me happy”  felt deliciously authentic too.

p.s. mini rant: leaving your climax scene post-ED is plain stupid pfffft.

1. Hotarubi no Mori e

“No matter what, don’t ever touch me.. ok?”

Aww that.. touched my heart, or I should say.. it squeezed my heart so gently I couldn’t restrain my falling tears. ;_; Oh god, the whole movie was soul-quenching to watch, and it concluded with a brilliant tinglish note. I can’t express those overflowing emotions I have without spoiling the whole story, so I gotta hold myself back. Just that last scene though, that might be the most subtle emotional rollercoaster ride I had, and the best cup of bittersweet love in a very long time. Oh Gin, *sobs* your fragility charmed my heart </3
